An unusual Australian red wine due to its lack of reliance on new oak, Penfolds’ St Henri Shiraz is an alternative expression of the grape that begins its life as rich and plush and develops a soft, earthy character with age. Matured in an assortment of old large vats, it holds a very minimal oak character, instead hitting the nose with raspberry liquorice and white chocolate. The palate boasts savoury notes mixed with wild cherry and pomegranate for a velvety-textured, complex wine. Careful cellaring will bring the 2021 vintage to its full potential.
